Cute Baby Octopus

When this little Atlantic White-Spotted Octopus arrived at Octolab, everyone immediately fell in love with him. He was the cutest little octopus we ever laid eyes on.

We prepared a little habitat for him and gave him a couple days to get acclimated. When he got used to his surroundings, he was immediately drawn to us as much as we were to him.

Here at the Octolab TV facilities all octopus residents are treated with much love and attention. All the more so when the resident happens to be so tiny and charming as Joey. Smaller sized octopuses tend to be more easily frightened than bigger adults. It takes a lot of patience and delicate movements to make a baby octopus feel safe and trusting.

Callistoctopus Macropus

Callistoctopus Macropus, more commonly known as the Atlantic White-Spotted Octopus is a nocturnal species, which means that Joey rarely gives us a chance to spend time with him but when he does it’s always an unforgettable experience.

The Atlantic White- Spotted Octopus can often been seen hiding among seagrass and it is therefore also known as the Grass Octopus. Bearing this fact in mind, we decorated his habitat with a lot of plants and green pebbles to make Joey feel at home.

Joey is much more picky in regards with his eating habits than other Octolab TV residents belonging to the Octopus Vulgaris species. We try our best to keep him well fed and we can’t wait to see how big he will become, as adults Callistoctopus Macropus can grow to a total length of 150 cm!

We hope you enjoyed meeting him as much as we did!
